Heritage Register
The Municipality maintains a:
- Register of heritage properties individually designated under the Ontario Heritage Act.
- Register for properties of cultural heritage value or interest, which are not designated.
- Register for properties that the Municipal Heritage Committee believes to be of cultural heritage value or interest, but which are not subject to the provisions of the Ontario Heritage Act.

Municipal Heritage Committee
The Central Elgin Heritage Advisory Committee preserves the Municipality's historical, cultural and natural heritage and advises Council on regulated matters. The committee is made up of representatives from each ward, interested members of the municipality, and a council representative.
The Committee holds meetings on the fourth Wednesday of every other month, usually at Sparta Church Museum, 6073 Quaker Road. Find current and past meeting agendas here.
