Southwestern Public Health has issued a Heat Warning for the Central Elgin region. Environment Canada is forecasting a multi-day heat event starting Monday and continuing through next week. Daytime highs on Monday will be in the low thirties, with humidex values near forty, and overnight low temperatures are expected to be in the low twenties. This heat event is expected to last until the end of the week and possibly longer.
The Municipality of Central Elgin is offering Cooling Centres at the Belmont and Port Stanley Arenas, which will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
