CENTRAL ELGIN – The Municipality of Central Elgin has received an adverse water sample Mackenzie Lane (formerly Edith Street) to the west end of George Street in Port Stanley this afternoon. As a result, Southwestern Public Health has issued a boil water advisory for approximately 30 homes on the west end of George Street.

Notices are being hand delivered to affected residents this evening. Residents who have not received a notice are assured that municipal water is safe for consumption.

The Municipality has conducted an additional water sample from the affected area this evening and submitted it for testing, with an additional sample to be taken on Wednesday, May 29th. More details will be provided as they become available and affected residents will continue to receive direct updates.

Adverse samples are often the result of contamination at the sampling point or at the laboratory. All are taken seriously, and the Municipality and Southwestern Public Health are addressing this matter with the utmost priority. More information can be found in the attached advisory.
