Central Elgin Appoints Chief Administrative Officer

The Municipality of Central Elgin is pleased to announce the appointment of Carey Herd as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective May 13, 2024.  The appointment was made official following approval by Council on April 29, 2024.

“Carey brings a great balance of experience and vision, along with a leadership style that will support moving the municipality forward.  She is an advocate for a culture of engagement, innovation and accountability.  On behalf of Council and staff, I welcome Carey to the Municipality of Central Elgin as our new Chief Administrative Officer.  We look forward to working with Carey to support Central Elgin in its path to prosperity.”  Said Mayor Andrew Sloan.

“I am honoured to join Central Elgin in their next chapter, and to engage with all internal and external stakeholders” Herd said.  “This is an exciting time for Central Elgin and I look forward to working collaboratively with Council, staff and residents in shaping the future of the municipality.”

Carey attended the University of Western Ontario and is a graduate of Queen’s University – Smith School of Business Queen’s Executive Program.  She is a member of the Ontario Municipal Administrators’ Association (OMAA), as well as the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA).  Carey previously held the role of Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Caledon.  She is a municipal expert with over 25 years of extensive experience in public service and provides valued insight into all aspects of municipal governance. 

Council would like to thank Robin Greenall for her service and commitment to the Municipality of Central Elgin during her time as CAO.

“Ms. Greenall’s leadership and dedication to the community during this transition period has been greatly appreciated,” said Mayor Sloan.

Central Elgin’s new CAO will start on May 13, 2024.
