For Immediate Release
CENTRAL ELGIN - March 28, 2023, Mayor Sloan and the Council of the Municipality of Central Elgin are pleased to announce that the Municipality has retained Wendell Graves to step in for an interim period while the process unfolds to recruit a new Chief Administrative Officer/Clerk.
“Council and I recognized that we needed to fill the role as soon as we could. We know the recruitment process to retain a permanent CAO can take a few months. We are pleased that Mr. Graves has agreed to assist us and we look forward to working with him”, states Mayor Sloan.
Having worked across the region over a 40-year period, including the Catfish Creek Conservation Authority and the Town of Aylmer, Mr. Graves retired from the City of St. Thomas in early 2022. He holds a Master of Public Administration from Western University.
The community of Central Elgin holds a very important context for Mr. Graves. A family farm was located on Brouwers Line. Additionally, his grandparents owned and operated the former Graves General Store in New Sarum for many years.
“Central Elgin is a vibrant and progressive municipality in the heart of Elgin County. I look forward to working with its Council and staff during this interim period” states Mr. Graves.
Mr. Graves will begin his work on March 30th, 2023.
