Service Disruption Update – Canada Post Service Disruption

Water Utility and Property Tax Bill Payments

On Friday, November 15 the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) commenced a work stoppage, impacting Canada Post services. During this stoppage, Canada Post has not been picking up, processing or delivering any mail.

The Municipality is reminding residents that they are responsible for paying water utility and property tax bills on time, even if they do not receive these bills in the mail. Payments not received on time will be subject to penalties and interest.

If you need your property tax balance or payment information, please call us at 519-631-4860 or email finance@centralelgin.org.

While mailing in payments is unavailable, residents can use alternative methods of payment to ensure payments for utility and property taxes are received by the Municipality by the due dates. Payments can be made through online banking, visiting your local bank and/or signing up for Pre-Authorized Payment Plans (PAPs) online at https://lf.centralelgin.org/Forms/PAPApplication

Payments can also be made in person at the Municipal Office during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.). After hours, payments and remittance stubs in a sealed envelope can be placed in the secure depository located to the left of the front entrance of the Municipal Office, 450 Sunset Drive, St. Thomas.

If you would like to receive your water utility bill by email, please sign up online at: Water - E-billing Signup

Residents, businesses, and community groups are asked to continue to make alternative delivery arrangements for any mail being sent to the Municipality of Central Elgin. Items can be received by staff in-person during regular business hours at the Municipal Office at 450 Sunset Drive.
