The 2014 Parks and Recreation Master Plan Update will guide the Municipality's future decisions in the development of parks, open spaces and community trails within Central Elgin. Specific recommendations are made respecting the future development of parks and recreation facilities and venues as to site, scale and related considerations, and an implementation framework for the key recommendations made throughout the Master Plan Update. The Recreation Master Plan Update is to be reviewed every year in order to maintain an active list of recommendations, with more involved planning sessions and workshops involving Council and staff every three to four years. The next major review will take place in 2020.
The 2014 Recreation Master Plan Update was adopted at a Special Meeting of Council on July 3, 2014. The Plan was developed through a number of focus groups and community workshops where residents were given the opportunity to provide their perspectives on parks and recreation needs, priorities, strategic directions and policy initiatives in Central Elgin.
